How I love to Read

Books on Bookcase
Reading has been part of my life longer than I can remember. My parents tooks turns reading to me each night before bed & when I was old enough, I would read to them.

As a child I loved adventure books ( & I still do). I was a huge fan of Enid Blyton's The Secret Seven, Adventures of the Wishing Chair & The Famous Five. As well as Edith Nesbit's The Railway Children.

I also loved René Goscinny's The Adventures of Astérix & Georges Remi's The Adventures of Tintin along with Jules Verne&s Around the World in Eighty Days.

My thirst for reading was not limited to adventure stories & due to my father's occupation as a journalist, I was encouraged to read a wide range of books. My parents subscribed to the Reader's Digest & as result, I managed to read a lot of different authors including Arthur Miller. Death of a Salesman was my introduction to Arthur Miller at the age of 11.

As a teenager, I was lucky enough for some of my schooling to attend a progressive school & I was exposed to William S Burroughs & Anthony Burgess.

At university, I studied German & had the opportunity to read a few German authors. I really enjoyed ready Thomas Fontane's Effi Briest

I am also a fan of the good old fashioned murder mystery & Agatha Christie is a favourite of mine. I also enjoy technical & history books, the Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings series as well as works by John le Carré, Graham Greene, Terry Pratchett, Ian Rankin & Chris Brookmyre

To be honest, I'll read pretty much anything or give it a try at least
